I am leaving this post to commend everyone working on the project. I am very impressed by how quickly the suggestion above to change the signs to be consistent with the enforcement was implemented. A special thank you to Alderman Brooks, the police department, and the construction crews for getting the signage changed literally within 24 hours. With the general difficulty of making any movement in government — the incredibly fast turnaround and responsiveness of our local government is very reassuring. Thanks again for the fast, responsive action.

Please request the construction crews to post a ROAD CLOSED sign, not the existing “road closed to thru traffic”. If this is being enforced as closed with citations to local traffic, the sign should reflect the reality.

I live at Nicholson and Manitoba Avenue, 2 blocks south of Rawson Ave. and like most of us south of Rawson we take that way to work every day.

Jo Ann: I (and Dave Bartoshevich, the other 4th District alderman) actually spent most of this weekend distributing this letter deeper into neighborhoods close to the project, roughly the area south of College, north of Rawson, east of Nicholson and west of the parkway. Where do you live? Did you get it?

I found out from another resident that a letter was sent out regarding the construction taking place on Nicholson between Rawson and College. I was surprised that certain people received the letter and certain people living close to the area did not. It would have been nice to receive this letter especially when the website said the letter was dated 6/15/2012.

Last I heard, the 17th/Parkway project was expected to be substantially complete this week, in time. I’ll find out and post if otherwise.

Thought this was not starting until 17th Ave and Parkway Drive was 100% complete???
