Channel 4 stopped by AMF South Park Lanes on Tuesday to talk to area residents about the decision by 14 Democratic state Senators to leave the state in order to avoid a vote on Gov. Scott Walker’s “budget repair bill” and force a compromise.

As 14 Democrats remain in Illinois, their constituents are taking sides. … One thing both sides agree on, they will vote based on how their senator behaved during the budget battle.
That, I believe, we can all agree on.

Chris Larson is representing my interests by slowing down the passage of SB 11. It has several provisions that have nothing to do with unions or collective bargaining that need to be better understood before it goes forward. The union controversy is distracting people for provisions that reduce local control, replace agency professionals with political appointees (which may be great for conservatives while Walker is in office, but which might not be so great for us when he’s not) and make government less transparent. It’s a shame that it takes having legislators leave the state to give the public a chance to examine these provisions.

Sen. Larson is not your personal lawyer in that he can represent you in any and all methods he can think of. He was elected to represent all of us ON THE SENATE FLOOR. That is the location and manner that he was elected to represent your interests. Apparently, he has no desire to do that, but would rather hide in Illinois like a common criminal. Quorum was not developed to allow parliamentary tricks like he is doing.
Well said SM Guy. Chris Larsen’s alignment is with WEAC. He receives so much money that he is afraid that they will turn against him and he will no longer receive donations from them and in turn back someone else. I know several people that have emailed him (me included) and called his office. No one that I know has received a response from him. His actions are very disappointing.
