Restoring Grant Park’s Seven Bridges Bridge repair funding was secured in May with a capital fund transfer (providing the matching funds to satisfy the FEMA funding requirements).
The Parks Department hopes to complete repair of the small bridge in August. The larger bridge may undergo a formal bidding process with construction anticipated in September.

Hi Erik – Just a suggestion here not related to the topic. Do you have any control over what I believe are the ads that show up under your blog text? The one I’m seeing now is for something called “Ecopressed” which is apparently an eco based blog sponsored by GE. The ad includes a featured article called “Standing Against Oil Sands”. I don’t know what your personal opinions are on that and if you write your own blog comments on it, that’s one thing because you can defend it, but as a South Milwaukee elected person you might not want your ads directly attacking one of the big customers of Bucyrus (er, um, Cat….).
SM Guy: Thanks for the heads up. I don’t control that. In fact, I didn’t even know ads showed up on my blog. They don’t in the version I see. That’s disappointing. And I’m not sure I’ve thought it through enough to have a position on drilling for oil from oil sands … nor do I probably want to go there 🙂
