South Milwaukee police are investigating a report of an attempted sexual assault that occurred following Lionsfest late Friday night.
From the press release …
A teenage girl has reported to the South Milwaukee Police Department that at about 11:40pm on July 27, 2012 she was walking in the area of 15th Avenue at Chestnut with two friends when they were approached by a suspicious male. The male was able to detain the victim, attempted to remove some of her clothing, and then fled on foot. The description of the man is as follows:
A white male, about 20 years of age, 5’08” tall, thin, with very short brown hair.
This is the second reported sexual assault in South Milwaukee in two weeks. Here is a post on the other. Police are also investigating potential links between this case and other assaults in Bay View.
Please be extra vigilant as you’re out this weekend.
I’ll keep you posted when I learn more.

Living in the area this happened why were the residents not notified, why did we have to hear about it from the news knocking on our doors?
Dave: I’m surprised to hear that because I know police have been very upfront in reaching out to neighbors on this. I spent a few hours tonight handing out the composite sketch of the suspect in your neighborhood — and was told officers were out doing much the same thing last night and today. I’ve also tried my best to keep neighbors informed via this blog.
