It’s the type of question that often shows up on quality surveys — including at my full-time employer — and it does so because it gets to the heart of a matter.
Do you think highly enough of the city you live in to tell the world about it?
I’ve posed the question in a new poll. Please answer it … and comment, too. Would you recommend our city to a friend? Why? If not, why not?
By the way: I answered an emphatic “yes.”

Yes, indeed! I have recommended South Milwaukee many times over the years. Quiet, safe, clean, attractive city, with a quality school system, beautiful parks, the Lake, near the airport. What is missing for many people is luxury housing, especially condos, upscale shopping and elegant fine dining. Wonderful that we have an Aldi’s and soon a Walmart–but how about a Sendiks, Whole Foods, an Outpost or a Trader Joe’s?. We have to travel to Oak Creek or Southridge for most non-grocery shopping, (I still miss Gimbels at Packard Plaza and Kohls in SM.) The closest accommodations for our out-of-town guests–13th Avenue in Oak Creek.
