Your link to Bruce Murphy’s hit piece on Tim Sullivan denigrates the quality of your blog. To insinuate there isn’t a skills gap by selecting only the metrics that support your position isn’t journalism. This article only focuses on welding positions and they only represent a small portion of the skills gap problem. How many young plumbers do you know. How many kids are enrolled in the apprentice programs at SMHS?
Al: I don’t know the answer to your question, but I do know I respect Bruce Murphy’s opinion on things. He goes behind the easy headlines and takes a deeper — and apolitical — dive into issues that you simply can’t find in other places. Sometimes he hits the mark. Sometimes he doesn’t. In either case, I find his columns to be must-reads.
