Update: Not surprisingly, this has been moved to Friday.
In case you’re wondering why the sirens are blaring … check out this message from Milwaukee County Emergency Management.
As part of the State Emergency Management’s Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week, on Thursday, April 18, 2013, a statewide tornado warning drill is planned. The National Weather Service will issue a “test” tornado watch at 1:00 P.M. This will be followed by a “test” tornado warning that will be issued by National Weather Service at 1:45 P.M for Southeast Wisconsin and the Milwaukee County Outdoor Tornado Warning Sirens will be sounded at this time. There will be no “all clear” message issued by National Weather Service. If there is any threat of severe weather on April 18th, the siren test will not be conducted.
