Honadel Makes The Case For Coal

Read South Milwaukee Rep. Mark Honadel’s recent opinion piece in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and post your comments below!

As to me, I at least agree with this line: “Americans should keep the door open to all forms of energy, so we can be the most competitive, strongest, most free nation in the world.”

Yes, coal should be part of that, a big part for the time being. But I’m not nearly as all-in with coal as Honadel is, certainly not for “many generations to come,” as he puts it. What say you?

Honadel apparently hasn’t developed asthma like I have since the Oak Creek coal-fueled plant came on line. That after having pulmonary function of a much younger person for my entire adult life. So is it the coal? Nothing else in my life/environment has changed.

Mr. Honadel has neglected to look at even his own party’s recent support of climate change action, it appears. With the oceans absorbing CO2 and warming at a rate that is clearly measureable, all the numbers reveal that this is not some sloppy science or political statement. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/02/opinion/a-republican-case-for-climate-action.html?smid=fb-share&_r=1&
