21st Assembly District: Republican Rodriguez Rolls In Special Election

The 21st Assembly District has a new representative — Republican Jessie Rodriguez.

Rodriguez easily defeated Democrat Elizabeth Coppola in the special election held Tuesday, 56%-44%. She will replace Mark Honadel, who left the legislature this fall in the middle of his fifth term.

Check out updated results from the Fox 6 website.

Of note: It was almost a dead heat in South Milwaukee, where Rodriguez tallied 50.5% of the vote to Coppola’s 49.3%. See the tally sheet here.

It was a different story in Oak Creek, where Rodriguez easily beat Coppola. You can see Oak Creek’s results on its Facebook page and on the Facebook feed on the city website.

I vote at Rawson School. The parking lot lights were off which created a very dangerous situation. I saw an elderly person trip on the curb due to the darkness. Where can one file a complaint?

  2. Rick: I passed on your concern to City Clerk Jim Shelenske.

Very dangerous situation! Almost appeared that someone wanted the building to look like it was closed and there was no voting! Those “lefties” will try anything to win!

I’m on the phone with the City Clerk and the breaker tripped and the Street Department contacted the custodian and he fixed it. The lights we out for approximately 35 minutes.

I understand there were radio commercials for Coppola, but I never heard one for either candidate.

Randy, you are correct about Coppola not running ads on WISN. My travel after work included Behling telling people to go vote as this was an important election. When i got to Rawson School, even though the lights were out in the parking lot, there seemed to be a mad dash to vote as there was a line. I was number 738.
We must keep the movement going. Act 10 is working and I would hate to see this momentum turn around. Finally it appears SM will not have a tax increase. Spending must stop!

      Rick,
I believe that the long-running tide is finally turning, albeit slowly. More and more people are finally waking up to the fact that government has gotten too big and costly. Yes. We must keep the momentum going.

Spend! Spend! Spend! will stop, although slow. Yes, with the rising cost of health insurance, electric rates going up because they are not receiving their rate of return, and even the SM wastewater and water depts. raising rates because demand is down and they need the lost revenue. It will really be a wake up call when CAT closes the plant and they take the City to court to lower their tax rate due to vacant property. This happened to West Milwaukee in the early 90’s when Rexnord closed the plant . West Milwaukee had the highest tax rate in the State until business began to fill the empty buildings.
