Candy Quest: South Milwaukee Trick-or-Treating is Sunday

As if your kids needed a reminder … but trick-or-treating is from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday in South Milwaukee.

Click here to see a complete list of area trick-or-treat times.

You’ll note that some communities hold their trick-or-treating in the late afternoon or early evening, including Oak Creek. I’d like to see us join that group starting next year, and judging from the comments on my previous post on this, I’m not alone.

Your survey needs some more options. First of all, in its current form, it’s equivalent to the old catch-22 question “Did you stop beating your wife?” It can’t be answered. There is no option for, say, a community Halloween party sponsored by the city, one of the many community groups, or businesses. (Sullivan seem to like throwing his money around in exchange for free press). This would be a guaranteed SAFE alternative to trick or treat, and wouldn’t be so darn annoying to those who don’t have kids. (Unfortunately, nobody seems to know that you only go to doors with the porch light on). Additionally, only the afternoon choice is two hours. It should not take more than one hour to walk up and down your own block. We are not a farm community where people don’t live close to each other. Anything beyond that is just greed and opens up the risk of “imports” (i.e., non-neighborhood kids just coming for the free candy).
