What?? No mention of the failed attempt by the Dems to flip the Senate?? (like they failed to elect Kloppenburg, like they failed to elect Barrett) If they had flipped it, you would have that as your TOP story! I suppose we’ll have 2 weeks of peace before they start with the Walker recall. At least the neighbor took down his silly fist sign (anchored by 2 small American flags!) this morning.
Perhaps, Erik, we can agree, I am so tired of all of it.

  2. Yeah, I know. Trust me, I’ve had to bite my tongue on this issue a lot in recent weeks and months. I thought it would be best. As you know, I pledged some months ago to tone it down a bit and keep the blog locally focused as best I can. So that’s what I did. I think readers appreciated this, as page views are way up.

That said, as a regular reader of this blog, you know where I stand on Scott Walker and the fast-tracked Republican agenda that is more focused on helping the rich (er, job creators) than the middle class, like me. See, there I go again 🙂

But you might be surprised on my stance on the recalls. While I wouldn’t have been upset at a Democratic majority in the Senate, I do not support the recall process in the first place. To me, recalls should be a response to acts of corruption or malfeasance in office, or a felony arrest — not a dispute over policy.

In the end, yes, I am tired of all of this. I hate the divisiveness that is still a reality in our state — discord fueled by both Republicans and Democrats. And it won’t get any better anytime soon.

Is Oak Creek local to you? It seems like you have a lot of stories on OC. What about SM? Like…why doesn’t SMPD support neighborhood watch programs? There must be a reason for all your interest in OC…but I find it odd since you are an alderperson for SM.

    • Yes. Oak Creek is local to me, and I feel readers of this blog do want to know what’s happening in surrounding communities. And that’s the focus of many of these “headlines” posts, as I link to stories from around the South Shore (including Cudahy and St. Francis, even Bay View at times). But why so many Oak Creek headlines specifically? Easy. Oak Creek has a daily newspaper in its Patch website, which provides several headlines a day for me to link to. Other area communities don’t have this. Honestly, I wish we had a similar media entity covering us …

      • Also, the focus of this blog remains on South Milwaukee, and it always will be. I hope that shows through and think it does. I work hard to keep residents informed on truly local issues. I take that responsibility seriously.
