So, we got more than six inches of snow on Thursday — a pretty good storm for our first real storm of the season. It could be worse.
With the first snow, it’s probably a good time for a refresher on city snow removal ordinances. Check out a previous post on those here.
Of course, if you have any snow-related issues to report, let me know! You can call the Street Department at 768-8075.
I don’t really “get” why the street dept waits till the snow is over before plowing. My daughter and her baby were over most of last evening. When she ran an errand for me I told her the streets would be fine once she got out of South Milwaukee. She told me she laughed out loud when she got onto Packard Ave. and indeed, it was plowed. She also said she passed 5 SM trucks and none had their plows down. I live on 15th and the only plows I saw were the schools.
I drive through three communities back and forth to work. SM has absolutely the worst street conditions of all of them. You’d think with all the tax dollars that have not been spent because of the unusual lack of snow this winter that we could get clean streets the first snow we get.
I guess this is what Erik means when he says there is no where to cut without losing valuable city services!
Agreed!!! The plowing and salting operation is really bad. Almost all our streets are snow covered because they waited.
