Election Day Open Thread

It’s Election Day, and, whether it’s Republican, Democrat or neither, all I ask is that you do your civic duty and vote.

I’m opening this thread to take comments on the various local, regional and national races on the ballot.

Who got your vote on Tuesday? Who didn’t get your vote? Why?

I’d also like to know what you’re seeing out there. Long lines? Issues at the polling places? Been receiving a few too many robocalls the past few days?

Post your comments below (and please keep it constructive) …

I saw a nice crowd at the library, Makes me glad to know people want their voices heard. What is the reason for signing in? Did I miss something?
A HUGE sign on a van That read “StoptheWalmart.com”. My guess its from the friends of South Milwaukee group. Are there more signs like that in the other districts?
I Voted for Mike Moeller for both positions. I voted for him because I feel he represents me and my values.

    • SM OK: Glad to hear about turnout. The signature requirement is a little-known part of the voter ID law — another protection to help ensure you are who you say you are. It was not struck down by the courts, so it stayed in effect for this election.

  2. SM OK – thanks for the support. Filing the paperwork with only 2 weeks to campaign, I feel that I was able to raise some additional concerns that the community should address other than Walmart and feel that my efforts were successful. This was the purpose of running for both Mayor and 1st District Alderperson this time. Since this was a special election for 1st District Alderperson I have the opportunity to run for 1st District Alderperson for the regular Alderperson elections held in 2013, and who knows, maybe Mayor in 2014… 😉
