Out In The Community

Fire hydrant smallerIf you were driving around town today, you may have noticed (they were hard to miss) the yellow “God’s Work … Our Hands” shirts. They were on the backs of more than 150 members of Trinity Lutheran Church, as we fanned out across South Milwaukee and the area to do community service projects.

This is a picture of me and the family painting a few of the city’s more than 600 fire hydrants. Others picked up garbage, harvested vegetables at the Hunger Task Force farm, cleaned up at Human Concerns, painted benches the South Milwaukee arboretum, even wrote letters to soldiers, among other projects.

If you’re looking for a church that is committed to making a difference, try Trinity. It’s an amazing group of people led by an amazing pastor — and I’m proud to be a small part of the congregation.

Great to see others cleaning up and painting in South Milwaukee> Everyday that Me and My Wife walk our dogs thru the “Oak Creek Trail we bring a empty bag to pick up all the trash that we pass. I use my Wheelchair and scoop it up as we go. Just makes ya feel better when you can do just a small part to assist keeping South Milwaukee as clean as it is. thanks for doing your part… Michael…..

Thank you for doing that. I noticed a couple people painting the fire hydrant down the street here and was wondering who it was or why they were doing it. Nice to see groups out taking care of the neighborhood and I too pick up trash when I walk the dogs in the park (In addition to cleaning up after them, unlike so many other people out there).

I know what you mean, I see people all the time walking THIER animals and do not pick up after them… Hard to believe the gull some people have. Just think if everyone in the community picked up a tiny bit of trash when they see it.. The thing that bugs me more than anything is when someone empties an ashtray from THIER car into a parking lot or out the window.., same with Fast food napkins and wrappers.. Just sickens me … Thanks for helping this wonderful city keep clean and good looking…need more like you as well…. 🙂
