    Mr Brooks,
I have to wonder, what good possibly could come out of you reprinting a news story from another county about a some one from South Milwaukee being sentenced to prison for a sexual assault crime? The assailant is in custody and has been sentenced. And by the courts of law. Justice has been served. Still I find this upsetting that you would need put this out there in my mind just for votes, since you are currently running for mayor in the city of South Milwaukee. As the father of two little girls (7 & 9) and a advocate of sexual assaults. I would have hoped, you would have had, the common courtesy to let the victims begin to move forward on their road to recovery, without your painful reminder as a headline. Because every time that story is brought to the medias attention. They are the ones forced to relive it again as well as other victims of sexual assault! Not you. And what about the family of the victims. I’m sure they have to question themselves on a daily basis what went wrong and the burden they must now carry. As well as the assailants family. And in no way shape or form do I condone sexual assault, more so on a child! Because once that innocence is stripped away from a child… Forever it is gone! But you have posted this as if it happened in South Milwaukee, when in fact it happened in Fon du Lac. Not that it matters where it happened? It is still tragic all the way around. So again, I have to ask myself? What good could possibly come from posting this, for all to see? And the only conclusion, I can come to is… That is was done just for your political gain, while running for mayor. And that alone I find is almost as disgusting as the crime itself!

    • Vincent: As the parent of two young kids myself, I am just as horrified at these crimes. But that doesn’t mean I won’t write about them. I regularly (probably hundreds of times in the past few years) link to news items with South Milwaukee connections in these “Headlines” posts, and I will continue to do so. I am disappointed you think there would be some sort of political motivation to this. That is 100% false. I started this blog as a source for South Milawukee news and information, and I will continue to provide that service, reporting on the good, the bad, and, unfortunately, the ugly (cases like this).

    Mr Brooks
So it is safe to say, you have no regard for the victims and their well being in this matter? And that you will continue to post what fits your needs? As long as you feel its news worthy? Does that also mean you will also being posting actions from anyone, who is from South Milwaukee that has committed a crime or is a victim? Whether it was done in Wisconsin or any other state for that matter? God forbid if it was one of your family members on either side of the fence. Can you ask yourself? Would it still be news worthy to you if that were the case? Again I say… What good can come out of some thing so tragic and for who’s benefit? Surely NOT the victims! With your degree in journalism. I would hope you understand that?

    • Of course I am concerned for the victims and their well being. They were the victims of a terrible crime, and I pray for them. No one should every have to endure what they endured. The fact that I linked to a story available to anyone who receives “South Milwaukee” Google News Alerts does not lessen my sympathy for them and their families.
