What a great night to be a South Milwaukeean.
From the Sorce Martial Arts open house to the demonstrations to the freebies to the music, Evening on the Avenue was a big success — and my first opportunity to be in a dunk tank. 🙂
Next up: South Milwaukee Lionsfest, starting Friday, and the Heritage Days Parade and Friends of Mill Pond Duck Race on Saturday. Drama at the Depot also continues at the train station downtown Friday and Saturday evenings.
One note: I’m told the parade is bigger and better than ever this year, with more than 120 entrants. Look for me and my family on the fire truck!

Gary and I enjoyed a delightful time strolling though all the activities of Evening On the Avenue–chatting, laughing, eating, and listening. Beautiful day for a grand event. May the good times continue for the weekend. Thank you South Milwaukee.
I attended Thursday evening’s “Drama at the Depot” event and was so impressed that I came back for Saturday’s performance. The historic Depot served as a perfect backdrop for the performers. The acts were varied and quite talented. The whole event was a breath of fresh air for our Downtown area and a sign of what can be accomplished here with a little vision and commitment. Hopefully, there will be more of this sort of thing to follow!
Special props to Mr. Jay Benkowski of Benkowski Builders for allowing use of his wonderful historic building for this very special event This is a great example of what can be accomplished under joint co-operation between private sector interests, the City of SM, and the SM PAC. Bravo!!
