Gov. Scott Walker has officially asked the federal government for disaster assistance for communities following this year’s harsh winter.

What does that mean for South Milwaukee? Potentially, a lot. We’ve asked for nearly $167,000 in funds due to broken water mains, road repairs and other issues caused by the weather.
That would be a significant help to our budget.
