Happy Homecoming!

FireParadeCheerleadersCaptainsThe return of the Homecoming Parade after a decades-long absence. A pep rally. Then the bonfire. What a special night and what a great community-building event.

Thanks to South Milwaukee High School Principal Beth Kaminski, Athletics Director Ante Udovicic and everyone else from the school district who helped make Thursday night’s events happen.

And a special shoutout to all the city workers who stepped up to help make Homecoming happen, too. Police, Fire, Street, Wastewater — all of these departments played a role in delivering these terrific events.

Next up: the actual Homecoming game between the 6-0 Rockets and Cudahy on Friday. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

Go Rockets!

Good to see the Homecoming festivities revived – especially the bonfire. Takes me back to good memories of my high school days at SMSH!

I have heard through the grapevine that the traditional rocket launch after scoring has been eliminated due to a complaint of one resident’s grandchild being disturbed by the noise? Can you tell us, the community, as to the decision to take away tradition that so many of us thrive to keep alive? What about the residents who are in “ears reach” of the noise that will testify to the fact that NOONE is bothered by it? I would like to know what the proper procedure is to challenge such a decision by petition, please.
