Jake Simuncak hit Lawrence Turner for touchdown pass in overtime, and Simuncak intercepted a pass on the next possession to seal a 20-14 South Milwaukee victory over West Allis Hale on Friday at Spaltholz Field.
But the real winner was Jordan Schroeder.
Jordan, who is battling cancer, was on the field for South Milwaukee’s first offensive play before being removed from the game to support the team from the sideline — and continue to provide inspiration for the Rockets.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel covered the story before Friday’s game. TV crews were also on hand to document it, including WDJT, WISN and WTMJ. (The image is from TMJ4.)
(By the way, South Milwaukee moved to 2-0 with the win, with a game at Whitnall up next on Friday. WISN has highlights.)
