What a Weekend for South Milwaukee! Crusherfest in Headlines, and Images

What an amazing turnout for Crusherfest, as we celebrated a local icon in a way that will be remembered for years to come.

I am so happy for the Lisowski family, and so proud of this city.

I can’t wait to see what’s next!

My goal: To become famous for hosting one of the most unique festivals in the country, and being home to a beautiful work of art that perfectly honors this larger-than-life man. This weekend was only the beginning.

THIS IS CRUSHER COUNTRY!

Great! Thanks for posting all the pics.

One question… Do you happen to know the significance of him carrying a beer barrel, say, as opposed to being in some type of wrestling pose (like that fine gentleman in the first pic below your text)?

When Crusher “trained” he would would run up and down Lake Michigan while holding kegs of beer. He also danced the Polka with Barmaids for Stamina .

This is pro wrestling so this is of course tongue in cheek.

He would say that he would start this “workout” carrying two half-barrels. He would drink one on the way to his workout and one on his way back home. I think the barrel is a nice touch!

Thanks for the info Nels. Very interesting. I knew there had to be some reason – just didn’t know what the story was.

If you want to make this annual or bi annual event here are some suggestions:

    1) Close down Main Street and allow open carry containers. That will encourage people to walk around and visit various stores and shops – that way they benefit too.

    2) There should be more wrestling themed stands and shops. It seemed to attract a lot of wrestling fans – maybe getting some older wrestlers to have an autograph/picture line and have it sponsored by a local business?

    3) Some sort of Crusher themed event for locals – like a Keg toss?

I’m sure there are 100 more ideas but that’s my 2 cents.
