12 Days Of South Milwaukee Christmas: Shop Local Saturday

Chamber bus flyerHappy to kick off another “12 Days of South Milwaukee Christmas” series — an annual look at some of our best local shopping options …

And I start with information on a couple big “shop local” events this Saturday.

First, there is the annual South Milwaukee Christmas Market, set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at South Milwaukee High School. It’s a full house once again, with more than 60 vendors selling terrific locally made gift items. Live music is also scheduled throughout the day.

Reminder: Christmas Market Is Saturday!

More than 70 vendors selling arts, crafts, organics, baked goods and much, much more. Live, local entertainment, including two hours of performances by student musicians. And Gypsy Geoff.

That’s just some of what you can find at Saturday’s South Milwaukee Christmas Market at South Milwaukee High School. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enter off Oak Creek Parkway, door nine.

12 Days Of South Milwaukee Christmas: South Milwaukee Christmas Market

Next up on the list of recommended local shopping options this holiday season: the South Milwaukee Christmas Market.

The popular event is back for a third year – this time at a new location.

The indoor winter version of the farmers’ market is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at South Milwaukee High School. It will feature dozens of market vendors – and some new faces – selling arts, crafts, organics, baked goods and other specialty items.

Live Christmas music from local acts and students is also planned throughout the market, and the South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center is presenting Gypsy Geoff, who will roam the crowd and do special performances at noon and 1 p.m.

Celebrate Christmas In South Milwaukee: Full List Of Holiday Events Begins Saturday With Chamber Tree Lighting

I love Christmas in South Milwaukee!

Here’s a lineup of some of the bigger events around town, starting this weekend. If I missed something, please let me know.

  • Saturday: South Milwaukee Chamber of Commerce annual Heritage Place Tree Lighting. 3:30-5 p.m. at the northwest corner of 10th and Milwaukee Avenues. Visit with Santa and enjoy hot cocoa, cider, and singing from South Milwaukee elementary students.  The tree lighting will immediately follow the singing.
  • Sunday, Nov. 25: South Milwaukee Christmas Parade and Old Fashioned Christmas. My favorite annual event, the parade starts at 12:30 p.m., followed by all the activities at City Hall, the police department and senior center. The city’s Christmas tree will also be lit around 5 p.m. Learn more in the flyer.
  • Saturday, Dec. 1 and 2: Ye Olde Christmas Feaste. Learn more from the flyer, page 1 and page 2, and here.
  • Saturday, Dec. 8: South Milwaukee Christmas Market. A new holiday tradition returns bigger and better than ever, this time at South Milwaukee High School. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn more at http://www.smmarket.org and in this flyer.
