New Date: “Frozen” Showing Sept. 25 At The Farmers’ Market

I can hear “Let it Go” running through my head already …

We have a new date for the Guardian Credit Union Movie in the Market showing of “Frozen.”

It’s Thursday, Sept. 25, following the South Milwaukee Downtown Market, around 7 p.m. This means it will done by in plenty of time to get the kids (including mine) to bed for school the next day.

The movie was cancelled last month due to the threat of inclement weather.

Mark your calendars … and get ready to show off those Anna and Elsa dresses.

Outdoor Movies: So, What’s Playing?

I’m excited about the return of outdoor movies to downtown South Milwaukee — and even more excited now I know the films that will be showing.

Guardian Credit Union — which has graciously donated to make this event happen — has chosen three great titles for the Thursday evening flicks following the South Milwaukee Downtown Market …

  • August 14: The Lego Movie
  • August 21: Frozen
  • October 9: Hocus Pocus

So, mark your calendars, and stay tuned for more information as the movies get closer.

(FYI: Don’t remember “Hocus Pocus”? Here is more information on what sounds like a fun family-friendly Halloween movie, which caps off the market’s annual season-ending Fall Family Festival event.)

Now Showing: Outdoor Movies

Outdoor movies are returning to downtown South Milwaukee.

I am excited to announce that Guardian Credit Union Movies at The Market have been scheduled for three Thursdays this summer and fall at the South Milwaukee Downtown Market: Aug. 14 and 21 and Oct. 9.

Showtime is approximately 8 p.m. for the August shows and 6:30 p.m. for the October movie, which concludes the market’s popular season-ending Fall Family Festival event.

We’ll announce the movies in coming weeks, but for now mark your calendars!

I can’t thank GCU enough for stepping up with the donation for the movies – and thanks as well to the farmers’ market for hosting them. It’s great to have this family event returning to downtown South Milwaukee.

These types of partnerships are exciting to see, and you will see more of them with me as mayor. Learn more here.

Thursday Night: Follow The Yellow Brick Road (And Turn Right On 11th Avenue)

“There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home. There’s no place like … downtown South Milwaukee.”

The second of three Groovy Movie Nights is scheduled for Thursday night following the South Milwaukee Farmers’ Market, with The Wizard of Oz starting at dusk, around 8:15 p.m.

Come early to meet Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow and Lion! And bring your lawn chairs and blankets.

The weather looks good, after some rain early Thursday, so we’ll see you there … and the Downtown Market, too. Market hours are 3 to 7 p.m.
