Honoring Our Veterans

Veterans 1 Veterans 5 Veterans 6

Update: I posted a few photos from today’s event above. For more, check out my Facebook page.

Veterans Day is Wednesday, and I encourage you to attend the South Milwaukee Veterans’ Council ceremony and honor those who have served.

The event begins at 10:45 a.m. with a light march from American Legion Post #27 to the South Milwaukee War Memorial on 10th Avenue. A brief ceremony begins at 11 a.m. at the memorial, featuring guest speaker Air Force Reserve Major (Ret.) Jean Marie Pyzyk and the reading of the names on the memorial.

Lunch will be served at noon at the Legion post.

I offer a sincere thanks for everyone who makes this event possible — and to all of our veterans. I will never take for granted their service and what it meant in protecting our freedom and way of life.

Recognizing Our Veterans

Tuesday is Veterans’ Day, and I wish all veterans — those serving now or those who have served — a blessed day.

I thank you for your service — especially my late grandfather, a World War II Navy veteran, and my stepfather, a Vietnam War Marine veteran — and ask others to do the same by taking part in the Veterans’ Day ceremony on Tuesday morning, Nov. 11.

Local veterans will be meeting at the American Legion Post #27 at 10:30 a.m., and at 10:45 they we will do a “light march” from the Post to the South Milwaukee War Memorial.

The 30-minute ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the memorial, located just north of Tony G’s Grant Park Garage.

A light lunch will be served at the post following the ceremony.

(In the case of inclement weather ensues, the ceremony will be held at the Post.)
