Freedom on Wheels: Learn to Ride Our Milwaukee County Transit System with Confidence

Interested in taking public transit more often but don’t know where to start? You’re not alone. For many people, riding the bus can feel unfamiliar or intimidating—but learning the basics is easier than you might think.

Join us for the third annual Freedom on Wheels Travel Training event on Friday, August 21 at 1 p.m. This free, family-friendly bus orientation program designed for new and returning riders who want to build confidence and discover the possibilities of public transportation.

Participants will step aboard an actual MCTS bus, explore its features, and learn how to navigate our local transit system in a welcoming, low-pressure environment. Then, we’ll take a FREE ride together so you can experience firsthand what riding the bus is really like.

During the trip, MCTS staff will share practical tips and tools for successful riding, including how to plan a trip, understand routes, pay fares, use the Umo App, practice bus etiquette, and travel safely. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions, explore the bus, and learn how transit can connect you to work, school, recreation, and new opportunities.

Whether you’re a first-time rider, someone returning to transit after years away, or simply curious about how MCTS works, this event is a fun and easy way to get started.

Come see how simple, convenient, and empowering riding transit can be! RSVP at our Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1522138262193974/
