Nicholson Avenue Reopens

It will now be a lot easier to get to and from South Milwaukee.

Nicholson Avenue has reopened as a four-lane road. I drove it home from work tonight.

Thanks for your patience during the four-plus month construction … and let me know what you think of the new road. Post your comments below!

The road looks good…. drove down it for the first time today! Now here is the kicker, whats going on woth rawson ave now? They are begining to close lanes on the Rawson and pennsylvania/micholson ave intersection??

    • Brandy: I don’t know, but I will find out.

      • Our city engineer tells me most of the lane closures are expected to last less than two weeks. They are closed to allow for a sidewalk extension on the west side of the interchange, reconstruction of curb ramps on all corners and islands and the updating of pedestrian signals. The work could not be done with the rest of the project because easements and right-of-way were acquired late this summer, and the Department of Transportation had to approve the contract modification and additional costs (80% of which are being funded by the state.).

Ahhhh, I see! Thank you! I was wondering what was going on because I live in the apartment complex and they are ripping up the lawn and even though the children that live in this apartment complex arnt allowed to play near the sidewalk o Nicholson ave., I am hoping that this project will make it a little safer especially considering how often we have close calls on this corner! So many cars have been in accidents and one of them usually ends up on the curb right on our lawn! Thank you for the information!
