South Milwaukee Dunkin’ Donuts Project Moves Ahead

South Milwaukee is getting closer to getting a double-D.

The Plan Commission on Monday discussed the proposed Dunkin’ Donuts location at Chicago Avenue and Drexel Boulevard and recommended approval of the conditional use permit necessary for the project to the South Milwaukee City Council.

I expect the council will consider this at our next meeting on Tuesday, August 6.

Company officials said they’d like to begin construction on the 1,900 square-foot store (with drive-through) as soon as possible.

The store is planned for an outlot to the existing Aldi’s, Dollar Tree and Little Caesar’s Pizza. There are five other Dunkin’ Donuts within 10 miles of South Milwaukee, but the closest is on Layton Avenue near the airport.

What do you think of this project? Post your comments below!

I say why not give it a go. It’ll help by bringing in some more tax money and help create a couple more jobs. I don’t really see it hurting any other businesses nearby and there really aren’t any drive thru coffee shops nearby other than McDonalds. They may make a go of it. DD has been putting up a lot of new buildings lately.

Where? next to aldi’s or next to the pizza place?
Why can’t they use one of the empty units over be walgreens instead of building? Just wondering… I’d like to see it go in downtown maybe.. (another thought)

  5. What happened with the city council meeting on August 6th involving Dunkin’ Doughnuts..? There has been no information online since 31st of July..? Are the franchise owners planning construction of a new building…Also, Is it also going to be a shared franchise with having a Basken Robbins, as well..?

  6. Mr. Doe: Here is the response from our city engineer … I’ll keep you posted.

“Permit was approved for footing and foundation, but no activity yet. Their goal was to get shell up before severe winter conditions.”
