No One Hurt in South Milwaukee Garage Fire

Update: The South Milwaukee Police Department is investigating the fire “because of suspicious circumstances.”

From the South Milwaukee Fire Department … please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers on Christmas Eve.

At approx. 4:15am this morning, SMFD and SMPD responded to a 9-1-1 report of a garage fire in the 600 block of Elm Avenue. Arriving units discovered a well involved detached garage with fire extending to the nearby single-family house. The fire was extinguished with the help of our mutual aid partners. The garage and the vehicle inside are a total loss. The house received moderate damage to the rear exterior wall, mostly from direct flame impingement and radiant heat. No injuries were reported. Investigators are currently looking into the cause.
