The South Milwaukee Common Council voted 6-0 Thursday to reconsider its action earlier in the week and move ahead with our July 4th fireworks at Grant Park, following Milwaukee County’s decision to lift its outdoor event capacity restrictions. Here is my statement …
I am excited the Independence Day fireworks show will happen in 2021 after all. We need these special community events more than ever, as we reopen as a city, state and country.
For more than a year during the pandemic, we as local leaders have worked hard to make the best decisions we can — some of them incredibly difficult and controversial — with the information in front of us. We have also had to be adaptable, as facts change. That is exactly the case here, and that is why I thank the South Milwaukee Common Council for making this decision.
Let the show go on. Happy July 4th, South Milwaukee!
