Beach 1

There are more reasons than ever to head to Grant Park Beach this summer, and that’s a good thing for the entire city.

It starts with the opening of Ferch’s Beachside this Friday, May 19, with weekend hours through Memorial Day weekend, daily hours after that. Details here.

The burgers, custard and beer are just the start. Beach volleyball leagues are also back, with leagues starting June 4. Details and sign up here.

Hello Mayor Erik Brooks. I have one question. I want to know what will happen to abandoned houses that are for sale. If no one decides to buy the house, will the house get fixed by the city or will a new better house replace it? (there is a house on pine street that is for sale and it looks abandoned and i think a better and bigger house should go there)

    • It’s a complicated situation and is specific to each house. Rarely, if ever, does the city come in and actually fix or buy a house. That said, if there are upkeep issues (tall grass and other maintenance issues against our code) we want to step in quickly and address them. Are there those here? If so, please report the address and complaint to City Hall: 414-762-2222. http://smwi.org/citizen-complaint-form/
