Think warm thoughts, South Milwaukee — like summer days, and nights, of burgers, custard, beer, live music and volleyball at Grant Park Beach.
It promises to be another great summer at this everyday-less-hidden gem.
First, Volley Life opened registration for their volleyball leagues last week. Sign up here. The season starts May 29.
I also connected with the owners of Ferch’s Beachside this week, and Betty confirmed they plan on opening for the summer around May 24, ahead of Memorial Day weekend. Details here.
Add in the Traveling Beer Garden, which returns June 19-July 7, and there is lots to celebrate at Grant Park at these days.
The SMHS Class of 78 had a blast at Ferch’s Beachside Grill for our 40th reunion Friday Night Happy Hour Beach Party. The staff was so accommodating and made our group feel super special. It was one of the highlights of our reunion weekend. They also have regular friday happy hours on the beach with live music. Check it out. So relaxing.
The road down to the beach is a safety hazard. When will the City of South Milwaukee ask Milwaukee County to create a timeline to replace it? Do you agree that this will increase the amount of people that use Grant Park Beach? This improvement should increase the number of people who come to our city and use our businesses.
I agree. We have asked, repeatedly, and will again. But I’d suggest contacting Supervisor Shea to drive this conversation.
