The Common Council is complicit in the sky high rates we are paying for water and sewage.

So did the water bill increase pass or not? From this article my understanding is they are planning a 40% increase starting April first but it still seems no one knows yet if the increase was ok’d by the psc.

Regarding sewer and water rates . Image if We Energies proposed a 35 % increase in rates !! No way the PSC would allow that . Why do they allow the cities to do whatever they want ?? No one goes to Madison to protest . Even if they did ,its a done deal because the projects are underway already .
WE NEED TO REMIND the ALDERMEN AND ALDERWOMAN WHO THEY REPRESENT . THEY ARE JUST YES VOTERS FOR WHATEVER THE MAYOR WANTS . THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS . WE NEED TO SEND THEM A MESSAGE BY APPEARING AT COUNCIL MEETINGS AND QUESTION WHAT THEY ARE DOING !!

In my district (2), they run unopposed almost every year. When they do have an opponent most vote for the same 2 guys, then complain when they consistently raise taxes/rates/fees every year.

Dear Mayor, do you know if the water rate increase passed and if so, why weren’t you at least in Madison opposing it for your city?

  5. JJS

Melanie — The Mayor and City Council are the ones trying to increase the water rate. They have to get permission from the Wisconsin Public Service Commission.

Wonderful, not one honest politician anywhere, not one trustworthy person to represent us. This comment will be deleted just like my last one. The mayor has tricked us all. And the voters will forget it all when he runs for re-election in 3 years, like they always do.

    • I delete comments very rarely, when they violate my comments policy. This one is fine. Criticize me all you want on my website — just not others.

But is it true what JJS said mayor? Please be truthful to us.

      • No one is lying or hiding anything. Yes, communities and their utilities petition the PSC for rate increases, in this case to pay for a major upgrade. That’s how it works.

Work is progressing and they have not received approval from the PSC ??
Imagine if WE Energies asked for a 40 % increase ! What do you think the PSC response would be ??

  7. Cory

According to the city website the increase was approved and went into effect beginning April 4th.
